Abstract

|
The authors report a case of histopathologicall proven arteriovenous malformation which was not visualized on cerebral angiography. A 29-year-old female patient presented with seizure. Bain CT scan showed hypodense lesion with irregular margin on
left
frontal area, mimiking low-grade astrocytoma. The MR image showed decreased signal intensity on both T1-and T2-weighted image. No enhancement was noticed with Gadolinium DTPA injection.
Cerebral angiography showed avascularity in the lesion site.
Initially, stereotactic biopsy was performed, whose pathological findings showed gliosis with no definite evidence of astrocytoma. Operation was done, and diagnosis was confirmed as arteriovenous malformation pathologically.
